Dates Offered:

No open Class is planned at this time,

PLEASE CONTACT ARNEWSH INC. FOR ONSITE TRAINING

Description: This is a four-day class covering the hardware and software aspects of the MPC8360/58E PowerQUICC II Pro microcontrollers. A customized, shorter version can be arranged for on-site training.

Students will learn to design and write programs for various chip sub-modules. This includes the embedded Power Architecture Core (e300 with MMU and Caches), Programmable Interrupt Controller, Local Bus Controller, PCI interface, QUICC Engine, DMA controller, DDR2 Controller, Security Module, Reset and configuration of MPC8360/58E.

Objectives:
  • Learn the architecture of e300 core
  • Configure MMU and set up caches
  • Learn the exception processing in e300
  • Configure the Programmable Interrupt Controller
  • Reset and hardware configuration of the MPC834x
  • Configure Local bus memory controller
  • Configure the DDR2 controller
  • Configure and use PCI interface
  • Configure and use DMA controller
  • Configure and use the Security Module
  • Configure and use the QUICC Engine
  • Configure and use the UCC for slow protocol (UART example)
  • Configure and use the UCC for fast protocol (Ethernet example)
Prerequisites: To benefit most from the course, students are expected to be familiar with high-end microprocessor architecture. On-site classes can be customized to exclude topics which are not of interest.
