Dates Offered:
NO OPEN CLASS IS SCHEDULED AT THIS TIME

PLEASE CONTACT ARNEWSH INC. FOR ONSITE TRAINING

Description: This is a 4-day class covering hardware and software aspects of the Power Architecture 74xx (G4) microprocessors including the MPX7410, 744x and 745x devices. This class consists of lecture and exercises. A customized 3-day course may be requested for on-site seminars based on customer need.

Students will learn to design and write programs for all publicly announced MPC74xx implementations such as the MPC7410 and MPC744x/745x microprocessors.

Objectives:
  • Overview of Power Architecture and different implementations
  • Programming model, data types, and addressing modes
  • Instruction set, program structures, program loops, subroutines
  • Exceptions - internal and external exceptions, interrupts
  • Hardware design issues - reset, clock, interrupts, Power/Low-Power modes
  • Bus operation (60x and MPX bus modes), Bus Arbitration, multi-processing support
  • MPC74xx implementation-specific pipeline discussions
  • Memory Management Unit and L1/L2/L3 Caches
  • AltiVec architecture and programming
Prerequisites: An understanding of advanced microprocessor concepts and assembly language is required. Additionally, knowledge of general memory management, multi-processing, multi-master, and cache concepts is beneficial.
